Term: Academic Year 2018-2019 Fall

Description

This course is designed to provide students with the skills to think critically about the role of research in their respective disciplines. Students will gain a better understanding of how different perspectives and methodologies can shape and influence how research is conducted and interpreted. Students will critically examine theories and research practices in their academic discipline and gain hands-on experience in applying some of those approaches in their own work. We will discuss the importance of designing guiding questions and explore the various strategies student scholars can use to conduct productive research and develop an effective thesis. By the end of the semester, students will develop a research proposal that will be used as a framework for their Honors thesis.
