Description
After a short survey of Orthodox synodality in Orthodox Ecclesiology, this course will examine the backgrounds to this Synod, its character and proceedings, and especially its message through a close study of the official documents that were issued by it. It will also discuss and evaluate some positive and negative reactions, raised before and after its summoning, as well as its implications for the contemporary life and witness of the Orthodox Church. Primary and secondary documents and a relevant biography will be provided by the instructor.
