When exploring the rise of Christian Philosophy in the first centuries, the following questions call for our attention: Why did Christians set out to develop a philosophical view and build a philosophy of their own? What methods and program did they employ to accomplish their goal? Some writers of that time rigorously claimed that Christianity is philosophy and the only true philosophy. Despite the at least apparent symbiosis between philosophy and early Christianity, this is also the beginning of a substantial difference between Christianity and Hellenism, which shaped the idea of a division of two opposing worlds, a non-Christian and a Christian one.
