This course is focused on evidence-based practice models for healthcarepractitioners. The goal of this course is to provide information on theoverall enhancement and maintenance of psychosocial functioning ofindividuals, families, and small groups. This course presents current andcontemporary material that is application oriented. The overall goal ofthe course is to help students develop beginning level knowledge andskills related to the special topic area. The course reinforces the person-in-situation perspective, which is essential to health services workpractice. Evidence-based practitioners acknowledge and respect diversityin all forms of practice. Diversity is expressed as differences amongindividuals, groups, and populations (age, class, culture, disability,gender, political ideology, race, religion, sexual orientation). An emphasison junior year pre-practicum placements in various trauma-focusedorganizations around the surrounding Boston area.Prerequisite: For HD majors and minors, with instructor’s permission.
